Moose in Mist
An early morning mist engulfs a cow drinking in a stream in the tundra.
Moose in Mist
I spied this cow eating in the stream during an early morning drive. When in the ponds and streams, moose feed off of aquatic plants. I got out of the car and didn't close the door - I didn't want to spook her or to let her know that I was there. I was captured by the mist rising off the water and the beautiful color of the tundra. I don't recall any sounds other than my breathing. After she ate, she continued to walk in the stream.
It was taken with black and white film (I use to take a small point and shoot along with me to show me the colors of what I was taking with the black and white film) and printed on fiber based photo paper. That paper was treated with turpentine to accept the transparent oils. Painting was done with a small homemade q-tip and took approximately 40 hours.
